FIA admits to 2015 engine development loophole

The FIA has admitted that a loophole in the regulations will allow current power unit manufacturers to introduce upgrades throughout the F1 2015 season. Ferrari and Renault pushed hard for the sport's engine freeze to be eased, in a bid to catch up to Mercedes. However, as reported by AUTOSPORT, a loophole found in the regulations means power unit developments during the season will be allowed. This is because there is an absence of a homologation deadline in the technical regulations, meaning there is no specific date for the manufacturers to submit final power unit designs to F1's governing body, before they are frozen for the rest of the year.
