Hamilton wins BBC Sports award

Mercedes AMG Petronas World Champion Lewis Hamilton has won the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award for the first time. Hamilton, who was runner-up in the public vote contest in 2007 and 2008, beat golf's world number one Rory McIlroy and long-distance runner Jo Pavey to the accolade. Hamilton was presented with the award during a ceremony on Sunday evening in Glasgow.
