Double points, standing restarts dropped

After just one season, the FIA has confirmed that double points and standing restarts have been scrapped. The World Motor Sport Council met in Doha on Wednesday and ratified several regulations for the upcoming 2015 season. One of those was double points with the FIA announcing that "points for both titles will no longer be doubled for the final Event of the Championship." The other controversial rule dropped is standing restarts. "After consultation with the teams who raised a number of safety concerns, Articles 42.7 and 42.8 on standing restarts have been rescinded," stated the FIA.
