F1 steward praises new five-second penalty

– Formula 1 steward Garry Connelly has given his seal of approval to the five-second penalty that was introduced for the 2014 season.Drivers previously faced a hefty punishment for minor infringements, with a drive-through the most lenient in-race penalty available to the stewards.But the new system, which sees a driver held for the allotted time a subsequent pit-stop, has offered the panel a fresh alternative.Following its first season of use, Connelly – an FIA steward since 1989 – believes that a "really good balance" has been found."I think the major change this year for us has been the introduction of the five-second penalty, because in the past we sometimes...
