Rosberg beats Hamilton to high-pressure Abu Dhabi GP pole

+ Nico Rosberg brushed off the challenge of his Mercedes team-mate and championship rival Lewis Hamilton to seize a high-pressure pole ahead of the 2014 title deciding Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Rosberg stormed to his 11th pole of the season with a lap of 1:40.480, four tenths clear of Hamilton, who blew his opening lap in the final shootout with a mistake at the penultimate corner and then struggled to improve on his final effort, after topping the two opening stages of qualifying. Valtteri Bottas looked set to take provisional pole late on, but the Williams racer was forced to settle for third, ahead of his team-mate Felipe Massa.
