Mercedes prepared to accept engine ‘unfreeze'

+ Toto Wolff says Mercedes could be prepared to agree to demands for a one-off engine unfreeze as long as assurances are given that the rules are not changed again. Mercedes has so far resisted calls from rival engine manufacturers to open up engine development, after a freeze was put in place to control costs ahead of the season. Under the current regulations, changes to the 2014 power units may only be made on the grounds of safety and reliability. Ferrari and Renault have pushed for an unfreeze in recent months in hopes of making up ground on Mercedes, which has dominated the opening season of the V6 turbo engine formula.
