Caterham, Marussia referred to FIA after Austin absence
The stewards overseeing this weekend’s United States Grand Prix have referred the Caterham and Marussia F1 Team’s to the sports governing body the FIA following their decision to skip the race at Austin.
While both teams have been given special dispensation to miss this weekend’s event and the following race at Interlagos in Brazil next weekend while they seek investment so to continue to race, the FIA stewards in the United States were insistent that neither team were allowed to be absent as per article 13.2 (f) in F1’s sporting regulations, which states:
“An undertaking by the applicant to participate in every event with the number of cars and drivers entered.”
