Michael to leave McLaren

Sporting director Sam Michael is to leave McLaren at the end of the 2014 season, having handed in his notice in March. The 43-year-old joined the Woking-based squad in November 2011 after stepping down as Williams technical director a few months earlier. His relationship with McLaren, though, will come to an end after just three years after he told the team back in March he wants to return to his native Australia. Michael, though, will attend the final three races of the campaign. Meanwhile, McLaren have denied reports that technical director Tim Goss and chief operating officer Jonathan Neale are also on their way out as part of a major reshuffle.
