Alonso plays down talk of sabbatical
Fernando Alonso remains coy over his Formula 1 future, but says the chances of him not being on the grid next year are very slim.
The 33-year-old's relationship with Ferrari is set to come to a premature end after this season after both parties reportedly agreed to end his contract, which was due to run until 2016, early.
The Spaniard initially looked set to join McLaren on a long-term deal, but reports in recent weeks have suggested his preferred destination is Mercedes.
However, the Brackley-based squad are determined to renew Lewis Hamilton's contract beyond the 2015 season, but should the Briton decide to leave after next year then it would open the door for Alonso.
