Bottas: Tyres didn't have enough for pole

Sutton Images Enlarge Valtteri Bottas says he had taken too much out of his tyres to stay on the track after running wide on a flying lap which looked set to give him a maiden career pole position in Russia. Bottas went purple in the first two sectors in the closing moments of Q3, but the lap appeared to get away from him in the final sector before he ran wide at the last corner. It meant Bottas had to settle for third, four tenths behind pole-sitter Lewis Hamilton, and he admits his aggressive start to the lap probably cost him.
