Hulkenberg hit with grid penalty for gearbox change
Nico Hulkenberg stopped at the end of the Japanese Grand Prix Sutton Images Enlarge Nico Hulkenberg faces a five-place grid drop from wherever he qualifies at the Russian Grand Prix after the gearbox on his Force India was changed. Hulkenberg pulled up at the end of the pit lane on the final lap of the Japanese Grand Prix with the problem. However, with the race ending under a red flag, the results were taken from the end of the previous lap meaning Hulkenberg was classified eighth. If the gearbox issue had seen him retire from the grand prix then he would not have been penalised, but the result in Suzuka means the gearbox change was made before its sixth consecutive event, which is how...
