Lotus confirms Mercedes F1 engine deal

Lotus has confirmed that it will use Mercedes power units from the 2015 season, signing a "long-term supply agreement". Having been powered by Renault power units since the Renault works team was renamed Lotus in 2011, the team will switch to Mercedes from next season until the end of the current engine regulations. With Mercedes being the dominant power unit this season, Lotus CEO Matthew Carter said the move should help the team challenge for victories again in the future. “We are pleased to have been chosen by Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains in a significant long term deal," Carter said.
