Lotus confirms switch to Mercedes power for 2015

The Lotus F1 Team will be powered by Mercedes from 2015 to 'the end of the current power-unit generation', it has been officially announced. The Enstone-based outfit has suffered a tough 2014 season so far, partly due to the unreliable and under-powered Renault V6 Turbo. With McLaren switching to Honda power for 2015, a space opened up for Mercedes to supply another team. 'We are pleased to have been chosen by Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains in a significant long term deal,' said Lotus F1 Team CEO Matthew Carter.
