Suzuka race stopped amid heavy rain
– The Japanese Grand Prix has been halted after just three laps behind the Safety Car, amid persistent rain.Shortly before the 15:00 local time (GMT +9) race start, Race Control communicated that the 53-lap encounter would be starting behind the Safety Car, with Suzuka feeling the effects of the approaching Typhoon Phanfone. But after just three laps in highly challenging conditions, which saw a spin for Caterham's Marcus Ericsson at the final corner, the race was red flagged, with the drivers returning to the pit lane and forming up in single file.Update: With the rainfall easing, the race will be resumed behind the Safety Car at 15:25 local time
