Alonso close to Ferrari exit

Fernando Alonso looks set to leave Ferrari at the end of this season despite still being under contract at the team. The double world champion's future has been the centre of speculation for a number of weeks, with McLaren courting his services as it moves to Honda power units from 2015. A change of management at Ferrari – Stefano Domenicali was replaced as team principal by Marco Mattiacci in April and Luca di Montezemolo is poised to leave as president – has only served to fuel those rumours, with Alonso increasingly impatient over a lack of success.
