Missing session ‘not ideal’ for Vettel

World champion Sebastian Vettel suffered another blow in his bid to win a race this season when an engine problem forced him to miss all but seven minutes of second practice at the Singapore Grand Prix. The German pulled off immediately after crossing the line to take the chequered flag in FP1, matter-of-factly reporting that he had suffered the failure to the Red Bull team. With a shorter two-hour interval between sessions, Vettel's crew was always going to be up against it to install another powerplant in time for any meaningful running in the second session, but completed their task and sent the driver out with seven minutes remaining.
