Gutierrez handed 20-second penalty for Grosjean clash, drops to 20th
+ Sauber’s Esteban Gutierrez has been handed a 20-second penalty for his collision with Romain Grosjean during the Italian Grand Prix.
Gutierrez clashed with the Lotus driver at the first chicane in the closing stages of Sunday’s race and was forced to limp back to the pits with a right-rear puncture.
While the race stewards accepted the Mexican’s explanation that he was battling brake issues, they still found him to be at fault for the collision.
The penalty, which was added to his final race time, drops Gutierrez from 19th to 20th, behind Caterham’s Marcus Ericsson.
