Ferrari calls for engine freeze rethink to increase competition

+ Ferrari wants to see the in-season restriction on power unit development relaxed in order to close the performance between the three current engine manufacturers. While changes to engine mapping and software are allowed in-season, once homologated ahead of the season engine manufacturers may only tweak their power units mechanically during the year for reliability reasons, safety concerns, or to lower costs. Both Ferrari and Renault have found their power units to be down on power in comparison to that of rival Mercedes in 2014, the first season since the introduction of the 1.6 litre V6 turbo engines, a year dominated by the German marque, which has taken all but three wins.
