Max Verstappen on fast track to F1 Red Bull may not be giving up on hot prospect Max Verstappen, and the teenager could in fact be in line to replace Jean Eric Vergne in the Toro Rosso team next year. The talented 16-year-old son of former Formula 1 driver Jos Verstappen, in the midst of a meteoric switch from karting to junior single seaters, recently visited the paddock on the invitation of several Formula 1 teams. Father and son sat down with the boss of Red Bull's prolific driver development programme, Helmut Marko, but reportedly ultimately decided to sign with Mercedes.
