Rosberg wanted 'open fight' with Hamilton

A pleased Nico Rosberg says that his enthusiasm at having claimed pole position for the German Grand Prix was tempered by a brake failure for Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton.
Hamilton suffered the failure during the first knockout segment of qualifying and will start from 15th on the grid, while Rosberg will lead the pack away from top spot.
"To be on pole at my home race is fantastic," said Rosberg.
"Of course we'd prefer an open fight with Lewis. I'm a little bit less happy as a result as Lewis didn't have a shot at the end, but it's still a fantastic day."
