Pirelli to trial 18-inch tyre at Silverstone test

– Pirelli has announced that it will trial a new 18-inch tyre at next week's in-season Silverstone test.The Italian manufacturer says it is an idea it has been contemplating since returning to Formula 1 back in 2011, and that a move to the concept would bring the sport more in line with the road car industry.It reiterated, however, that it is not pushing for change, leaving this area to the teams and respective bodies."The 13-inch tyre is no longer relevant to the everyday road user, because even an 18-inch tyre is used by standard vehicles these days," said Pirelli Motorsport Director Paul Hembery."While 18-inch tyres would be a big step for Formula 1, there are many...
