Hamilton quickest but hits trouble in FP2

CLICK HERE for full FP2 times. Lewis Hamilton set the fastest time of FP2 for the British Grand Prix but failed to finish the session as his Mercedes stopped on track. Having been beaten by team-mate Nico Rosberg in FP1, Hamilton hit back with the fastest time in the second session by setting a 1:34.508 on the medium tyre. However, with 30 minutes still to run his Mercedes ground to a halt at The Loop and the message over the radio was: “Engine killed, no shifting”. Rosberg was second – 0.228s adrift of Hamilton – with Fernando Alonso once again third and the only car within a second of the two Mercedes as he was in the first session.
