Wolff sorry to let Hamilton down
Toto Wolff said Mercedes was “sorry to have let Lewis [Hamilton] down” as he was forced to retire from the Canadian Grand Prix. Both Mercedes cars had issues during the race, with Hamilton having to retire due to overheating rear brakes and team-mate Nico Rosberg being able to nurse the car home in second place to extend his championship lead. Wolff said the team was disappointed with the DNF but feels Hamilton has every chance of closing the 22-point gap quickly. “We're just sorry to have let Lewis down,” Wolff said. “It's a shame, particularly when the championship is as close as it is, but he is in good spirits and he is a fighter. I have no doubts that he will come back....
