Miserable day for Lotus in Canada

Following a disappointing qualifying session on Saturday, the Lotus team’s miserable Canadian Grand Prix weekend continued with a double retirement in the race. Grosjean could only manage 14th on the grid, with Maldonado starting down in 17th place in the second E22. Both drivers struggled throughout the weekend, with the Enstone-based outfit’s car not suiting the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, which largely consists of long straights and slow corners. Maldonado failed to make much progress early on but he was forced to retire on lap 21 with a power-unit failure.
