Button scores McLaren's best result since Australia

Both McLaren drivers finished the Canadian Grand Prix in the top 10, with Jenson Button securing the team’s best result since the season opener in Australia. The Brit lined up for the race in ninth place but had a poor start and dropped behind Raikkonen on the opening lap. He failed to make much progress early on after struggling on the super-soft tyre, but the pace of the MP4-29 was much more competitive on the option Pirelli rubber and he had a strong final 20 laps of the race. In the closing stages he passed both Fernando Alonso and Nico Hulkenberg to rise to sixth, before then advancing to fourth due to the last-lap collision between Felipe Massa and Sergio Perez.
