Ricciardo claims thrilling maiden victory as Mercedes hits trouble

Sutton Images Enlarge Daniel Ricciardo claimed his first career victory in an absolutely thrilling finish in Canada as problems for the Mercedes pair blew the whole race wide open. It had looked like it would be a routine race between Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton before engine problems at mid-distance blew open the race and the title fight, as Hamilton was forced to retire while Rosberg nursed the car home to second ahead of Sebastian Vettel. It had looked like Sergio Perez would have saved Rosberg out in front but a stunning move from Ricciardo two laps from the finish, passing round the outside of Turn 1, gave him clear air and let him reel in Rosberg out in front.
