Kobayashi incurs grid penalty amid frustrating weekend for Caterham

Kamui Kobayashi’s Canadian Grand Prix weekend has taken another almighty blow, after the Japanese driver incurred a five-place grid penalty after a gearbox change on his Caterham after the third and final practice session. Towards the later stages of the session Kobayashi pulled off of the track with transmission issues, which plagued team-mate Marcus Ericsson the day before. Despite the issues both Kamui Kobayashi and Marcus Ericsson managed to partake in the all-important qualifying hour, however their weekend failed to improve after the Swedish rookie lost control of his car on the kerbs at turns eight and nine and slammed into the retaining barriers.
