Canadian Grand Prix secures new 10-year deal

The Canadian Grand Prix will remain on the Formula 1 calendar until at least 2024, after a contract extension was announced today. A new 10-year deal was confirmed during a press conference at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve just after Saturday's third practice session, which was attended by circuit officials and government members. The race first joined the calendar in 1967, with the 2.709 mile track hosting its first Canadian Grand Prix in 1978. The sport will continue to visit the circuit until at least 2024 and as part of the contract extension, a considerable amount of money (between C$25-40 million) will be invested in upgrading the facilities and paddock complex.
