New 10 year deal for Canadian GP

Red Bull/Getty Images The Canadian Grand Prix will remain on the Formula 1 calendar until at least 2024 after organisers confirmed that they have signed a 10 year deal. The contract extension was confirmed during a press conference attending by circuit officials and government members ahead of qualifying for this weekend's event. The Circuit Gilles Villeneuve joined the series in 1978 and has been on the calendar in all but two seasons since its inaugural Grand Prix. The new deal will result in the aging facilities at the circuit being given a new overhaul, with paddock and race control facilities refurbished at a cost in the region of $30m. More soon.
