Pirelli open to experimentation

Pirelli Motorsport Director Paul Hembery admitted that the tyre supplier is willing to experiment with wider tyres in an attempt to re-balance aerodynamic and mechanical grip. Earlier this season, Felipe Massa suggested that Formula One could benefit from introducing wider tyres while also reducing downforce, which would enable the cars to follow each other through corners far more efficiently. Hembery added that Pirelli suggested introducing wider tyres for the 2014 F1 season, but some of the teams on the grid weren't interested and the idea was put on the back-burner for the time being.
