Vandoorne marks F1 debut with 136 lap haul

McLaren reserve driver Stoffel Vandoorne has received his first taste of F1 machinery during the second day of post-event F1 testing at the Circuit de Catalunya, the youngster proceeding to secure his F1 Superlicence with a mammoth haul of laps in Spain. The Belgian, who finished runner-up to current McLaren F1 driver Kevin Magnussen in last year's Formula Renault 3.5 Championship, was given the task of Pirelli tyre development for his maiden outing in an F1 car, an outing that in turn allowed him to accrue the 300km mileage he needed to secure his Superlicence.
