Max Chilton fastest on opening day in Spain

CLICK HERE to view full F1 day one test results from Spain Max Chilton has set the fastest time for Marussia on the opening day of the in-season test at the Circuit de Catalunya in Spain. In a day littered with red flags and affected by rain early on, Chilton took an unexpected top spot with a very late lap on supersoft tyres, his effort doing enough to head off Charles Pic, the Lotus reserve driver coming in 0.227s behind. Also set in the final half hour of the day, Pic's lap of 1:26.661s on soft tyres was enough to edge out Spanish Grand Prix winner Lewis Hamilton by just 0.013s. Hamilton's best time came on the medium tyres, lowering his mark over three consecutive laps late in the day...
