Vergne hit with 10-place grid drop

Sutton Images Enlarge Jean-Eric Vergne has been penalised 10 grid places at this weekend's Spanish Grand Prix and Toro Rosso fined 30,000 after a wheel came loose on his car during second practice. The right rear came off his car after he exited the pits towards the end of the session and the car came to a halt soon after. The FIA have clamped down on such incidents this year and hit Vergne with a 10-place penalty for Sunday's race plus the fine for Toro Rosso. "This is regarded as a serious offence and the stewards are of the opinion that this was a significant breach of the safety requirements," the stewards' report read.
