Barcelona circuit boss keen for rebranding

Red Bull/Getty Images The boss of the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is keen for his track to host a renamed Spanish Grand Prix. The circuit, which joined the Formula 1 calendar in 1991, was renamed from 'Circuit de Catalunya' last year after a deal was struck with Barcelona City Council. But circuit boss Salvador Servia would like to drop the 'Spanish' part from the race title and focus the event on nearby Barcelona. "The 'Barcelona' brand outsells the 'Spain' brand, and it also outsells 'Catalunya' or Montmeló," he told Catalunya Radio.
