Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button are the last two Brits to win the F1 world title Getty Images Enlarge Lewis Hamilton has been named the wealthiest British athlete in the Sunday Times Rich List for 2014 ahead of former McLaren team-mate Jenson Button. Since his move to Mercedes ahead of 2013, Hamilton has seen his career earnings rise by £8 million to a total of £68 million. Hamilton recently made N's list of the 25 top-paid athletes in the world along with Fernando Alonso, with the rankings putting his earnings around the $27.5 million mark before endorsements.
