Mercedes dominates opening practice in Bahrain

Mercedes continued to stamp its authority this season after it posted the quickest times in the first practice session for the Bahrain Grand Prix on Friday. Lewis Hamilton was two-tenths clear from teammate Nico Rosberg at the top of the timesheets with the Ferrari of Fernando Alonso nearly half a second off the pace in third. It wasn’t a straightforward session for Alonso as he nearly set off for one of his runs affixed with three medium tyres and one soft tyre on the left front.
