Noise levels won't increase

Renault have quashed any hope that Formula One could raise the noise level of the new engines as it would require a shift in the regulations. The 1.6-litre turbocharged V6 made their debut in Australia but fell flat with many Formula One fans. Equating the noise to vacuum cleaners and hair dryers, reigning World Champion Sebastian Vettel summed up the general opinion when he said the sound was "s**t." There had been talk about the possibility of increasing the noise levels, something F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone suggested.
