Double points won't be extended

Although Formula One will still award double points in Abu Dhabi, the plan won't be extended to the final three grands prix. F1's Strategy Group met on Friday to discuss various issues facing Formula One, including Bernie Ecclestone's proposal to awarded double points in the final three grands prix. The 83-year-old's idea was vetoed by the Group, which comprises Ecclestone, FIA president Jean Todt and six teams. According to the BBC, the Group also "decided not to make changes to the engine homologation rules after some teams supplied by Renault raised the idea of amendments."
