F1 Strategy Group rejects extending double points to final three races

The F1 Strategy Group has rejected Bernie Ecclestone's plan to extend the double points scheme to the final three races of the 2014 Formula One season. It was confirmed at the end of last year that the 2014 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, which acts as the final round this year, would be worth double the points of the other eighteen races (50 points for the winner, 36 for P2 etc.). Despite meeting a considerable backlash from the drivers, teams and fans, the FIA refused to be budged.
