Ecclestone wins UK fight with German group

LONDON, Feb 20, 2014 (AFP) - Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone won a multi-million-pound fight with a German media company in London's High Court on Thursday. A High Court judge rejected an £85 million ($140 million, 103 million euros) damages claim against Ecclestone in his battle with Constantin Medien, but said there had been a "corrupt" deal to facilitate the sale of Formula One to a preferred buyer. Despite ruling in Ecclestone's favour, Justice Guy Newey said he found it "impossible" to regard the 83-year-old tycoon as a "reliable or truthful witness".
