Renault confident problems are solved

– Engine supplier Renault is confident that the problems its supplied teams suffered during the first pre-season test at Jerez have been solved, but admits it remains behind rivals Mercedes and Ferrari. The French brand experienced a torrid opening test at the Spanish venue, with reigning World Champions Red Bull completing just 21 laps over four days, while Toro Rosso and Caterham also encountered major issues. But having addressed the suspected hardware and software issues, Remi Taffin, head of Renault Sport F1 track operations, is hoping that the upcoming Bahrain test, which begins on Wednesday, will be much smoother.
