Renault confirms battery issue

A media scrum gathers outside Renault Sport to question Remi Taffin Getty Images Enlarge Renault Sport is confident it will be able to offer an overnight fix for the major issue it has been having with its Energy Recovery System batteries at the opening two days of the Jerez test. Renault-powered cars have had very limited mileage so far this week, with just 38 laps completed between Red Bull, Toro Rosso and Caterham in two days. By contrast Mercedes completed 97 laps with its factory car in just one day on Tuesday and has been able to run for sustained periods of time. Renault Sport says it has identified the main problem with the batteries and will be removing them in order to fix them...
