Newey questions safety of lower nose designs

Red Bull Racing chief technical officer Adrian Newey has questioned the safety of the new, lower nose designs. The modified 2014 technical regulations were put in force to try and make the sport safer, in order to ensure that when a car runs into the back of another, it isn't launched into the air – like we saw at the 2010 European Grand Prix in Valencia back in 2010. However, Newey believes the 2014 design could produce the opposite effect, with a car going underneath another if there is front to rear contact.
