Sandbagging 'not an option' at first winter test

Renault Sport F1 deputy managing director Rob White believes sandbagging will not be an option for Formula 1 teams at the first winter test in Jerez. 10 teams will take part in the opening pre-season test in Spain this week, with Lotus being the only absent outfit. Most of the teams will get to see their 2014 machinery out on track for the first time, but Mercedes, Toro Rosso and Force India have already completed shakedowns of their new cars as part of promotional filming days. White doesn't think teams will be in a position to disguise their true form during the test because of the changes to the new regulations.
