McLaren pushing 'to the limit'

McLaren are confident they will be ready for Jerez despite their 2014 car having not yet passed all the mandatory crash tests. With pre-season testing set to get underway in less than two weeks, reports have emerged claiming McLaren's new MP4-29 may not be ready in time. Not only has the car not passed all the FIA crash tests but, according to Autosport, there is 'speculation that it may even have failed one or more tests, putting it behind schedule.' McLaren, though, are confident the new car will be action on 28 January, the first day of pre-season testing.
