Pole position trophy to be awarded from 2014

The FIA has confirmed that a pole position trophy will be awarded, beginning in 2014. The trophy will be handed out to the driver who sets the most pole positions each season. If there is a tie, the number of second places will be taken into account, followed by third places and so on, until a winner is confirmed. Had the trophy been awarded in 2013, world champion Sebastian Vettel would have claimed the trophies after topping qualifying on nine occasions, compared to the five fastest times set by Lewis Hamilton.
