Season Review: McLaren

Let’s be honest, 2013 was a disastrous year for McLaren as they dropped from race-winning frontrunners to the midfield pack, scrapping for lowly points positions. The Woking-based outfit had high hopes after ending the previous season with two consecutive race victories. However, it failed to meet their expectations. Losing Lewis Hamilton – arguably the fastest driver in F1 – to Mercedes didn’t help matters, but the main problem was the MP4-28. It was the second 2013 machine to be unveiled and took a more “revolutionary” approach, with changes to the sidepods, rear suspension geometry and a switch to pull rod front suspension to name just a few.
