Magnussen cites Hamilton as inspiration for 2014

Vodafone McLaren Mercedes McLaren driver Kevin Magnussen says he that Lewis Hamilton's debut season with the team in 2007 is ‘encouraging', as he prepares for his Formula 1 debut in 2014. Reigning Formula Renault 3.5 Series champion Magnussen will replace Sergio Perez at the team next season and believes that the example set by Hamilton demonstrates that he can be successful. 'The fact that Lewis did exactly what I’m doing now is a positive for me,' said Magnussen. 'It shows that the team has been there before, and has already prepared a rookie for his grand prix debut.
