Brawn's Mercedes exit confirmed

Getty Images Enlarge Mercedes has confirmed that team principal Ross Brawn will stand down as team principal and leave the team at the end of the year. Brawn's future has been the centre of speculation throughout the season ever since Paddy Lowe joined Mercedes from McLaren, with Brawn admitting there would be a "soft handover" at some stage. Confirming Brawn's departure, Mercedes said the decision had come "following an extended period of open discussion between the team's key stakeholders" and Brawn himself said he felt the timing is right to pass on responsibility, with Lowe and Toto Woff now taking over leadership of the team.
