Ecclestone names Horner as 'ideal' successor

Bernie Ecclestone has named Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner as the 'ideal' person to succeed him in running Formula 1. The 83-year-old has controlled the sport for 40 years and despite previously avoiding talk of retiring, he has now nominated Horner as the ideal candidate to replace him when leave his current role. 'Christian would be ideal,' he told The Times. 'I would be happy to hold his hand. We could have a transitional period. It needs someone who knows the sport.
